Winter Fest!

Dixie had an amazing morning!  We did the "Frosty Dog Jog", an event that is part of Madison's Annual Winter Fest.  If you aren't from around here or haven't heard of Winter Fest, it is an annual festival where the city dumps truck loads of snow around the inner loop of the capital square.  They groom the snow and then for a weekend in February they hold lots of fun winter activities in the snow.  There is a 5K Run, a Kids Fun Run, a Dog Jog, state cross country races, ice carving contest, tubing, snow shoeing, hockey, ice skating and lots more!!!  Check out the website for more info!  http://www.winter-fest.com/

The Frosty Dog Jog and Walk is a one mile trek down State St. and then loops back around to the square.  Dixie loves meeting new dogs and "window shopping" around the square and down State Street!  She doesn't mind the complementary treats and bandanna at the end of the race either!  I don't mind the free Starbucks coffee at the end either!  The best part about the event is that ALL proceeds go to the Dane County Humane Society!  That's a huge reason we do it and it's a fun thing for Dixie and I to do to get out of the house!  I can't wait for the girls to come and try all the fun activities when they are older!
Winter Fest is still going on the rest of today and tomorrow so check it out or keep it in mind for next year! Dixie and I will be there!
