Dr. Seuss

March 2nd was Dr. Suess' birthday so here are some things we did to celebrate!

Cat in the Hats using basic shapes
Before the girls woke up from their nap, I cut a white circle and hat shape and glued it on black construction paper.  Then I cut small black circles for eyes, black rectangles for whiskers, pink triangles for the nose, and red rectangles for the stripes on the hat. When the girls were ready, I showed them how to glue on the pieces.  They wanted to "color" a mouth on the cat.  As they worked, we talked about different shapes.
Cat in the Hat Hats
For this project, I cut a rectangle shape out of the middle of a paper plate and folded it up.  The girls glued red paper to the plate for stripes on the hat.
